Deur die toepassing van die gebruiks- en beloningsteorie, ondersoek hierdie artikel interaksie, waarneming en afleiding as maniere om die Internet en koerante te gebruik. Verskillende gebruike en belonings is gestel vir die twee media, en ‘n aantal studente is by die ondersoek betrek. Soos in die hipotese gestel, is daar ‘n belangrike voorkeur bevind vir koerante in terme van waarneming en die Internet in terme van afleiding. Die Internet word ook verkies vir interaksie, hoewel die verskil nie beduidend is nie.
